CLIMATE CHANGE

A definition of climate change is change of climate with regard to the history of global climate or regional scale. These changes occur at different scales of time and climate parameters: temperature, precipitation, cloudiness, and others.[i]

Today; is very common hearing about the environmental pollution, also about how the people every day destroyed their own world and one of the consequences of pollution are the climate changes.

Is not necessary to be a researcher or scientist to realize that climate changes occurring around the world, because it is only necessary to look around us and above all feel the differences in climate.

The temperatures have many variations, it is sometimes hot and sometimes very cold, and also the natural disasters are a result of this big problem, now there are many flooding and before it was not common.

We must to do something to save our land; it is good to start taking care of our nature because she punishes us. We should stop littering, polluting the waters and forests, save energy and prevent air pollution.

FOOT PRINT!!!!

What would your next generation to help reduce their foot print?

Today; it is very sad this situation, our world is in danger because the people is doing every day things to contaminate the environment

There are many different actions that affect the world, for example: the smoke of the cars and buses, the people who throw garbage in all parts, also the people build in all places and so they have to cut the trees, the contamination of the companies.

I think that is time to start to reduce this big problem because if we do not do nothings, maybe tomorrow will be late. We have to help our future generations to salve the world but how can we help to reduce the foot print? It is not easy but it is not impossible.

The first thing that we have to do is to educate the children to care their own house that they learn to do not throw garbage. Other important thing is reduce the use of energy and encourage children to not use many video games that spend lots of energy and also pollute.

Is important motivate the people to avoid using both the car and walk more, so too we can do exercise.

Also, it is important that some people invented machines, cars and others things that do not pollute or that reduce the pollution and motivate the people to buy those things although when they are more expensive.

I think that is important there are rules to reduce the foot print to punish the people who do not fulfill with the law.

MARRIAGE

Today, many people decide not to get married, but they decide t olive together with their partners; they think that to be married is more difficult than to live together without having a legal compromise with other person.

I think that it is because the young people are not prepared to confront many responsibilities that marriage involve in each live.

Now; the society educates to not complicate our live with anything, the young people think that it is not necessary to get married to be happy.

The few couples who decide to get married do not think well, before the wedding and for this reason today there are lot divorces. To get married is a difficult decision but it is necessary that we think well with who do we want to be married.

In my opinion we should not forget the values of our parents. But, in some cases it is necessary to divorce, when there are aggression and infidelity.

SIMPLE LIFE

Simple life is a different way to live where all is easier than normal life.
There are different reasons, because people decide to have a simple life; for example, spirituality, health, environmentalism. Others may follow the voluntary simplicity for reasons of social justice, rejection of consumerism or simply because it is the way of life that brings them more happiness.
It is important to distinguish between people who have a simple lifestyle and people who live in poverty, because it is very different; there are people who decide to have a simple lifestyle and they have lot money.
This way of life in many ways benefits the health of people, because they have a healthy diet, do not have much stress, and they can do exercise.
Examples of simple life are the people who plant the most food, the women don’t use washing machines, don’t have electricity in the house, don’t have cars, they cook in wood stove…
Simple lifestyle means to help the nature, as this can prevent the destruction of the planet, if we continue destroying the environment we will have serious problems. As nature shows us with the floods of last week in all country.
I think that simple life is interesting and in part is better, but now it is very difficult to live because we are used to have many facilities, I don’t image my live without phone, internet, electricity, but I think that we should practice some things; for example: be careful the things that we buy because sometimes we buy things that we don´t need, also we should have a good diet, and of course we should care for our planet.

The tourism

The tourism is one way to get money for each country in the world, maybe the most important source of incomes.
In our country, tourism is the principal source to get money, because our land have many beautiful places, for example: the natural views like Braulio Carrillo Natural Park or Chirripó mountain, in these places the visitors can see many different animals and trees. The beaches are other kind of tourism destiny in Costa Rica like Puerto Viejo beachf in Limón, Punta Leona in Puntarenas and Tamarindo in Guanacaste. The people of Costa Rica and also people of other countries love to visit the beaches because these places are really wonderful and for the people that live near the beaches, it is easy to get money because they can work in hotels.
Also tourism is the perfect way to know different places in our country or in the other countries; for me the best tourism destiny is the beaches of Mexico. In the future, I want to spend my honey moon in Acapulco.
We should preserve our beautiful places because it is really important for our economic, but also if we do not take care of our mountains, our animals, and our water we will have a big problem.

Story Telling

Story Telling is the way of tell stories that happened in the past, the stories can be fantasy or real, but almost always are about fantasy.
There are different types of storytelling, for example: listening to someone tells a story like Ana Victoria Garro, reading a book as: Peter Pan written by James Matthew Barrie, watching a movie such as: the same Peter Pan but directed by P. J. Hogan, or watching a play like Romeo and Juliet.
Also, there are different kinds of stories depending of the writer, for example: horror story like “El cadejos”, fantasy stories like Peter Pan and more.
Storyteller is a person who relates the story, may be one or more people who tell the story. These people have different techniques to can transmit the story a good way; they change their voice with the purpose to change the feeling of the story, they talk faster and louder to make the story more exciting, they use different voices for different character to show the audience who is talking, they talk slowly and softly to sound scary and they use dialogue to bring the characters to life. Also, the use of the oral expression as the movement of hands is very important.
I think that is important to preserve this tradition because the young people can know about the life of our grandparents; for me is very wonderful listen a grandparent tell about a classic story of our country, for example: “La llorona loca”, “La carreta sin bueyes”, “La mona” and other.

Language

The language is the oral communication form that people have for expression their emotions and their thoughts.
But, in the world, each country has a different language for example; in countries like United States, Canada and others countries speak English; in Japan and Korea speck Mandarin; in Brazil and Portugal they speak Portuguese, and we Latin Americans; speak Spanish but, each country has its own language, there are dialects that is a variant of some words associated with a particular geographical area
.
In Costa Rica, we speak Spanish, but in each places we use different words to refer to something with the same meaning, for example ; in Guanacaste we say “chimpinilla” to refer a shin, “acuantá” that meaning just now. In Limon, there is a dialect that is a mixture between English and Spanish, this dialect is called “Patua”. In other places of Costa Rica like Talamanca they speck indigenous languages.
I think that the language is part of the culture's country and we must grow with globalization and learn other language like English or Mandarin because it is very important to get a good job but we shouldn´t forget our own language.

Extreme Sports

First… I think the person who practice extreme sport is very crazy and of course, very brave because this sport is dangerous.
Extreme sports are those sports or activities with a sports component, which by its real danger in this way are called.1
There are different types of extreme sport, for example:
SURFING is a water sport. Many people are hit with rocks and also drowning.2 Costa Rica has many beaches but surfing is not a sport practiced by the people of Costa Rica, for example, Guanacaste has one of the world's best beaches for surfing, but only people from other countries practice this sport.
MOTOCROSS is one of the most dangerous sports, it is very entertaining but has very terrible accidents an example is Lobito Fonseca accident, the motorcyclist was paralyzed by an accident on his motorcycle. Today, one of the most famous motorcycle is Travis Pastrana, in our country is Roberto Castro known as MUFLITAS.
SKYDIVING is a parachute jump technique, which can be done from an airplane, helicopter or hot air ballooning, recreational purposes, sport.3
There are more examples of extreme sports such as mountain climbing or ice climbing, skateboarding, rafting, canopy. To practice these sports the people need an excellent physical condition because otherwise they would have many difficulties, but above all they need an excellent mental condition, because the most power in our body is the mind.
I like some extreme sport, but only as an amateur because I can’t practice this type of sport because I get scare. The only extreme sport that I can do is canopy.
Really I admire these people who are strong and they not have fear of danger.

Fraud

Fraud is a crime very common. One fraud is when anyone is victim of any theft; in this way the thieves can to get money of easy way.
There are different types of fraud, for example when the people are victims of identity theft or goods theft , and also the goods steal can be outdoors like in a street, in a mall, in a park, in a bank and other parts or indoors like when a person touches the door to offer something and so the thieves can to enter the house and steal something.
When the criminal steal the identity of the people is very dangerous and can be most the steal of money, because the thieves with the identity can do many things. The identity theft is a steal of personal information for example: person’s name, passport number, address, driver’s license; this information about the victim is used to open bank or for use the credit card.
The criminal has many different forms to steal the personal information of his victims, for example false phone call, false price or false advertising.
Today, with internet is easier to get personal information about anyone. For this reason, we must be careful with our information, we should save our information don’t giving our information to strangers

Globalization

Dear organizers:
I write to give my opinion about the activity that took place last week which I attended.
I think that the globalization topic is very broad and very interesting because is a current topic for the world. Globalization has differents aspects like economic, technological, social and cultural, has a objectiv that is obtain the interdependence of countries and unite the markets of all countries. For this reason is important to know about companies like an INTEL because this company is the clear example of globalization in our country.
It is important to make these activities because for every college student must to know about this issue because we should advance with our country. Like all, globalization has positive and negative aspects, but in my opinion we must take the good aspects and minimize the bad aspects.
Thank you for attention and I hope a new opportunity for participate in other activity.

Advertising is used by companies to get bigger and better sales, because in this way are appealing to buyers. To achieve this there are different techniques, this depends on the type of product you want to sell or the type of person who buys the product. For example the humorous advertising is the most used for the companies because it makes it easier to remember the commercial and of course the product.
Also, there are many advertising that are unpleasant or have subliminal messages, this advertising is used to draw even more attention of people but we must be careful because the main messages are of sex and violence.
There are many means of advertising such as newspaper, radio, magazines, newsletters but the most used is the TV commercials, these are the most expensive but more efficient.

Hello!!!!
My name is Sofía Cortes, I am from Guanacaste, but this year I live in Alajuela because my career just give it here. For me is very difficult live here because I was used to many things of Guanacaste like the beach, the nature and of course my friends, my neighbors and my family, but I want to be a dentist so I am here.
I study dentistry in Ulacit, this is my first year.
In my free time I like listen to music and play soccer,I am player of the one team in Guanacaste, with this team I won two medals in National Games. Also I love to dance.
I hope to learn a lot in this course becouse I think that the english language is very important for our future.
